Beauty Is...

Madison entered our local PTA Reflection Program
last fall.  She created a beautiful leaf collage from
leaves we gathered out of the canyon.

A couple of weeks ago, she received an e-mail
indicating that she had received an
"Award of Excellence"
in her age group (Primary) and category (Visual Arts).

Saturday evening she and I went to SLC
to the awards ceremony.  She was recognized
for her effort and her entry will be sent to
Nashville to the National Reflections Competition!

Congratulations Madison!

Tuesday in Oakland

Tour of the Jelly Belly Factory - very interesting and yummy!

Beautiful Temple and beautiful grounds...

Just enough time for some lunch and we made our
way to the airport to head home.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for such a memorable trip.
We appreciate how kind and accommodating you were to us.
We love you and miss you and appreciate the example you are to all of us!

Monday - Santa Rosa and Redwoods

On Monday, we drove to Leggitt to see the “drive-through”
Redwood Tree. There was a little gift shop and picnic
area by the tree. It was a beautiful drive and
then we were back to Ukiah for lunch.

All made up of Charlie Brown Comic Strips!
Pretty Cool!

After lunch we rode down to Santa Rosa for a quick
tour of the Charles Shultz Museum and a look at
Grandma and Grandpas new apartment and mission office.

Sunday - General Conference in Ukiah

We attended General Conference at the chapel in Ukiah.
In between the sessions we ate a delicious potluck dinner
and the kids played one of their piano pieces.
After conference we went for a ride to look at town of Ukiah.
You can’t imagine all the grape vineyards and pear orchards.
We rode up to a resevior not too far from town to feed the ducks.

Saturday - Redwoods and Beach

Saturday was another busy day. We got up early and
headed north out of San Francisco toward Ukiah.
We stopped on the way to see several beaches and
then stopped by a forest of Redwood Trees.
The stand of trees was called Armstrong Forest.
They really are amazing trees…
hard to imagine unless you’ve stood next to one.
We made it back to Ukiah so the men could attend priesthood meeting.

Friday in Beautiful Northern California

Our Spring Break was spent visiting Elder and Sister Snow
(aka Grandma and Grandpa) on their mission in Northern
California.  We had such a nice time.  Grandma and Grandpa
were such nice hosts and we were all really excited to see
them.  We saw so many beautiful places and experienced
some really neat things...I'm working on a scrapbook, but
in the meantime here are a few pictures and a quick travel
log of our time spent with them!

Ghiradelli Square - who can pass up free chocolate samples!
(In case you're unsure, Flat Stanley was the extra family member)

Duck Tour that gave us an interesting tour of San Francisco.
We walked around Fisherman’s Wharf and saw all the sights.
We ate fresh sour dough bread, clam chowder and
even enjoyed a fresh crab. It lightly drizzled all day,
but it was beautiful and didn’t slow us down much!
We also walk through an outdoor Maritime Museum and
watched a magic show. After dinner we went for a ride
in the van and drove down the “crookedest road”
and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to take pictures.
